It’s been nearly three months since we began this journey, and this update is long over due. So, for those who have been wondering how we are doing…we have been exceedingly and abundantly blessed! God has been SO faithful to order and direct our steps, and to provide our every need along the way.
We have had a number of divine appointments in our travels, that we know were ordained by the Lord. We have met SO many wonderful people and had some amazing experiences. So many neat things have happened that I will try to recap another time. But for now, a few highlights:
One thing that happened, about two weeks into our crusade, was that the local Christian television station in Corpus Christi, Texas, recorded two of the services we did at Walden Road Baptist Church. The first service was more of a concert, with our friend Desta, the one with the incredibly gifted voice who had recorded a CD of Todd’s songs, and who had previously sang at the church.
We’ve been told that they made two, one-hour programs of the services, and have repeatedly shown them on local television. How exciting that the messages and songs are getting out there to minister to the masses!
Then, the morning we were leaving Corpus Christi, Todd had an interview to do at the Christian radio station (through a gal we met at Anniville Baptist Church…another major divine appointment, halleluiah!) before we left town.
Kendra and I sat in while Todd gave his testimony, and I tell you what, it was the most powerful message I’d ever heard him give. He is an amazing speaker anyway, but this radio program was so anointed and Holy Spirit led.
Guess what the really, REALLY neat thing about this whole radio program was…
It was being aired in all the prisons!
I can’t tell you how excited I was about this amazing message going into all the prisons. It was such a powerfully inspiring message filled with great hope. I believe it is the most significant thing he has done yet, and that it will have more effect on more people than anything he’s done so far. (For those who don’t know his testimony, he had spent over 15 years in prison.)
What is neat about Todd is that he doesn’t try to hide anything, or pretend to be something that he’s not. He uses his own past (and present) failures as examples that people can relate to, and gives SO much encouragement and hope to those who have none.
I cannot imagine a prisoner (or anyone for that matter) listening to that program and not being deeply moved and encouraged by it. It was just SO good.
Currently, we are staying near Gaston, South Carolina, at Todd’s cousin Troy’s hunting preserve. People come here from all over to hunt European boars, deer, and rams. It’s becoming one of the top hunting preserves in the country, and has been getting quite a bit of attention from major hunting magazines, a large ammunition company, and others who have been here filming for advertising and outdoor television programs.
It is beautiful country here…and are we IN the country! We are located within a couple of hours drive to most of the churches we’ve been going to in the area, so we are using this as a home-base for now. Troy offered us a home to stay in, which already had lots of things left in it we could use, and Todd’s other cousin, provided us with furniture we needed that she had in storage. God has so abundantly provided our every need, time and time again.
The house overlooks a large pond, there are woods all around, and it’s very peaceful here.
Todd has made quite a few divine connections with some of the hunters, and there has been a lot of ministry opportunities here. Many nights he sits around the campfire playing his guitar, sharing songs and testimony. A number of people have given their hearts to the Lord as a result, praise Jesus!
He helps out whenever it’s needed on the preserve. He can do anything and everything. From electrical wiring, to cutting wood, to vaccinating the animals in the breeding pens, fixing fences, bringing the hunters in from the field, taking one out on a fishing trip, (poor guy) or fixing something that‘s broke, he knows how to do just about everything.
He is in heaven with all the ponds to fish in, (there are several right here)
Here we are with one of the ponds in the background...
and Kendra and I love riding on the four-wheelers and visiting the baby hogs and rams that are in the breeding pens on the preserve. I’ve never seen rams that were so pretty, some of the adults are almost regal-looking with their striking markings.

And there’s nothing cuter than little baby hogs. Okay, maybe there is, but these are really cute! We’ve also seen a beautiful peacock who lives here. Troy said that it flew in a couple of years ago, and has made his home here ever since.
The Lord sure knows how to give us the desires of our heart. We have always wanted to live out in the country, and this is a wonderful home-base for us to have for now.
