Great news! Todd Ayer's new CD, "Blessed & Highly Favored" was released in the spring of 2012. We believe it is the first of many to come.
Todd began writing anointed, spirit-filled songs after his conversion in prison in 1994. Many times he would wake up in the middle of the night with lyrics flowing through his head, and would write them down as fast as he could. Since his release in 2001, he continues to regularly write new songs.
On the demo songs below, Todd sings and plays guitar and harmonica, and Lori sings backup and plays the keyboard. This is how they sound when we do them live in churches.
The new CD that was just released has a different sound with more instruments & vocals added.
The sound quality of the songs below is not the greatest. They are just a simple open-mic recording we did in a one-room cabin, in Lakeside, Arizona, while worshipping our King. You'll have to excuse the occasional musings of our daughter, (who was 3 at the time) in the background... We don't claim to be talented musicians or singers, just worshipers in love with Jesus.
There is a story behind every single song Todd writes, which makes them so much more meaningful. I have attempted to share some of the story behind each one. This first song here is called, "With All My Heart".
Todd wrote this song on a mountain top in Missouri. He had been praising and worshipping the Lord with every song he knew to sing. He stopped after he sang the last one, completely spent after giving everything he had to give, and said, "What now Lord?"
He heard in his spirit the Lord say eagerly, "Write Me a new song!"
Suddenly, Todd felt completely inadequate and unworthy of the task. How could he possibly even come close to writing a song even remotely fitting for the King of Kings and Lord of Lords?
He heard the Lord say to him, "Just try, with all your heart".
Now this one is definitely one of my all time favorites...I LOVE this song! Here's the story behind it: There was a guy that Todd knew in prison who had converted to Muslim, and even changed his name to something like Kareem Abdul Mohammad Ali. He told Todd that he had tried every religion out there, Buddism, Hindu, Muslim, etc., and then one day he met Jesus...and this song was born.
It's impossible to listen to this song and not get happy. I mean it...try to not get happy while listening to this song! It is loaded with scripture that reminds us of who we are in Christ Jesus and what He did for us and what our inheritance is. The fact is, we are blessed and highly favored if we are a child of the King, no ifs ands or buts about it. So let's renew our minds with the words in this song that simply says what Jesus says about us.
“All I Need Is Jesus” was written right before Todd was released from prison, after hearing the devil whispering in his ear, "What are you gonna do now"? He stood up and said, "I know one thing I'm NOT gonna do, and that's listen to you, because all I need is Jesus!" Then he wrote this song.
Truly, we have lived out the words in this song as we follow the leading of our Lord, wherever He takes us.
This song is a lot of people's favorite, I think because everyone can relate to it. It speaks about the storms of life that we all face, and the bright light of Jesus that see's us through them. "It's not our journey that really matters, it's our destination that counts the most. I may be bruised, I may be battered, but when it's over...I'm goin' home."
